History of the name: «Boca» in the sense of passage that leads to the sea. The "friars" of the Santo Domingo de Almería convent were great owners of the place during the 18th century. In the 19th century, the galena mines had their peak in this valley, although iron, zinc, jaspers and agates were also extracted (Cabo de á-gata). In the middle of the 20th century, production stopped and its facilities can still be seen.
